minimalist

The big night is over and although I wasn't blown away by the dress choices I was amazed that there were so many great nominees this year with some well deserved winners. I will say that I have a new grown respect for Rachel Zoe after seeing Ann Hathway in seven outfit changes. This was Rachel's ultimate gig and she killed it...and that too being 9 months pregnant! Go Zoe!!!

I did enjoy the minimalist approach that some of our Oscar Glam Gals portrayed. The ultimate Oscar look requires a succinct sense of proportion and supreme confidence. So, when it works, the result is as dynamic as it is serene. And the Oscar goes to...

Gwen did not disappoint in this shiny metallic Calvin Klein. She looks like liquid gold. The true sense of a minimalist. And those LV jewels...I am swooning over them!

Jennifer Lawrence really set the bar high. Her form fitting fiery dress hugs her in all the right places. The simple hair and smokey eyes completes her sexy look. Now this is what a 20 year old should look like.

Michelle Williams swept the scarlet carpet in a sheer, sparkly floor length column dress that didn't get as much credit as it was worth. This Chanel Haute Couture was tailored to hug her hips and didn't shine as brights on the carpet as it did on the runway. I still think she stole the show as she sported her icy-blond pixie cut. She's just too darn adorable!

Now this is how to wear pale gold. Celine looked ravishing in her Armani Prive gown and I am dying over her figure after giving birth to twins. Celine is everything the Oscars weren’t this year - elegant, classic and graceful.

Camila can do no wrong. You can put her in anything and she looks stunning. I'm loving the simple, classic, yet modern take on the carpet with her parted hair and minimal make-up. The pockets are such a sweet touch to this gown. She's perfection!

Mila is pure hotness, but had such a different look on the carpet last night with her feminine, soft side. The lavender color of the lace dress was one-of-a-kind and such a romantic look. I wasn't loving the peek-a-boo cutouts, but it' Mila so she's forgiven. I love you Mila!

seductive power

Mixing unexpected hues together in one outfit can mean only one thing...Gucci's Fall 2011 collection. Milan was graced with Gucci's entourage of models, make-up artists, hair stylists and the one and only Frida Giannini. Her 70's sleek inspired collection marked the brand’s 90th anniversary and she didn't disappoint! Magentas, mustards, violets, and teals... the color palette was visually captivating and intriguing, so much depth. The sexy, billowing evening gowns that closed the show were topped with shrugs, scarves or jackets whipped up from hand-dyed silk flowers to complement the high-high slits and plunging necklines of the gorgeously draped pieces. One of my favorite Fall Collections thus far. It is Gucci after all...

"For the autumn winter 2011-2012 season, the Gucci woman dresses with a cinematic allure and a strong seductive power" - Frida Giannini

the imperfect perfect

So I am undoubtedly obsessed with J. Crew and everything they do, but after watching their new clip "J. Crew goes to Italy" I fell deeper in love. J. Crew has created a collection of three short films, with the first being a documentary on the design and manufacturing process of their one-of-a-kind Italian made shoes. The clip allows a sneak peek into Jenna's simply luxurious life as a creative director, and I became more of a Jenna Lyons cheerleader when I got a taste of how real of a person she is when she appears to get claustrophobic, New York Style, in the tiny Italian elevator. Jenna Lyons is imperfectly perfect...watch her creations come to life.

Be sure to catch the second video, “About a Thread Count” which launches on Feb 24th, and the third video “About a Print” which launches on March 24.

rich kid cool

You don't have to be rich to wear their tee's but you definitely have to be cool. A San Francisco based T-Shirt company recently launched a bespoke line of t-shirts that features limited-edition his and her tee's for a reasonable $25 each or 2 for $40. Their designs have a cheeky, retro vibe that requires a certain amount of coolness to be worn. Rich Kid Cool has been featured in the Bold Italic, San Francisco Magazine, Scoutmob and most recently, Splendora. I am a lucky owner of the RKC Women's 'Comb' Shirt, but have been secretly lusting over the RKC Men's 'Specs' Shirt. You might see some familiar faces in their recent photoshoot featuring a fiery Telsa and the RKC crew. A typical Saturday for the co-owners of RKC...

Only 300 men's and women's t-shirts were produced, so purchase now if you want to remain cool!

the kiss

I fell in love with this video when I saw it on stylecaster. A French spoken video with beautiful models, effortless style sharing the type of kiss that allows you to taste the others soul. After watching this video I was compelled to ask you all to kiss your loved ones so they feel like you left them with something desired...Vos Mains, Votre Voix, Vos Lèvres...

Happy Valentines Day.

aussy street style

It's been a month now that I've been back from the world down under, but I can't seem to get myself to stop drooling over Australian fashion. Australian women have a look of their own. Vibrant, creative, rich, exuberant style. Australian designers know how to drape a garment, and pay special attention to details. The pleats, layers, flowy fabrics lend to a very sexy yet elegant look. The bold colors of sunny Australian beaches and the starkly contrasting hues of the country’s central desert landscapes are captured in Australia’s fashion palette. I am particularly loving Willow and Sass & Bide's strong shoulder blazers. I searched high and low for an affordable strong shoulder jacket but after my splurge at Willow I was forced to store my credit card. Oxford Street Paddington, Crown Street Surry Hills, & Chapel Street I heart you but you left me broke...
